The heart behind the bread
Welcome to Kneadful Bread Co.
If you had told me a few years ago that I'd be running a micro bakery, I probably would have laughed. Baking sourdough wasn't part of some lifelong plan — it found me when I needed it most.
A few months after my dad passed away, I was searching for something to quiet the constant noise that grief brings. I picked up sourdough almost on a whim, never realizing it would become so much more than making bread.
There was something comforting about the rhythm of it all. Feeding the starter. Stretching and folding the dough. Waiting patiently while it rose. In a season where so much felt out of my control, sourdough reminded me that good things take time, care, and patience.
Day by day, loaf by loaf, something began to change. My grief became a little lighter. My confidence grew. What started as a way to heal slowly became a dream I couldn't ignore.
Every loaf I bake is handcrafted in small batches from my home kitchen with simple ingredients, plenty of patience, and a whole lot of heart. My hope is that when you bring one of my loaves home, it becomes part of your own story — shared around a dinner table, gifted to a friend, enjoyed on a slow weekend morning, or simply savored with butter while life pauses for a moment.
Because to me, bread has always been about more than bread.
It's about slowing down.
It's about gathering together.
It's about finding joy in the simple things.
And sometimes, it's proof that something beautiful really can rise from loss.
Thank you for supporting this little dream. I'm so grateful you're here, and I can't wait to share a loaf with you.
— Jess
What we stand for
Every loaf is made by hand in limited quantities. When it's gone, it's gone — and that's intentional.
No fillers, no shortcuts. Quality flour, filtered water, sea salt, and time. That's it.
Kneadful exists because of York. Every order supports a local family and a local dream.
Good bread takes time. Our sourdoughs ferment for 24–48 hours. Patience is the secret ingredient.
Orders open every week. Pickup, delivery, or special drop-off — Jess will work it out with you.
